About Me

I have been a quilter since 1996, a writer since I was in middle school, a reader since 5th grade and a sewer since I could reach the petal of a sewing machine. My husband and I have been married since 2004. I am a middle school teacher. Now I am expecting my first child in July!

Quilting History
As a child my mother taught me every craft she knew; how to sew clothes, cross stitch, embroidery, crochet and more. I loved it. However I always dreamed of learning the one thing she herself had never learned, quilting. I was enamored with the history of quilts, the beauty of them, the detail and skill involved.
I traveled to South Carolina for my first 2 years of college. There I had some time on my hands and freedom to do what I wanted. Not being a big party animal I decided to teach myself to quilt with the help of my roommate Heather, who had made a tied quilt before. My first attempt was a pretty sad looking baby quilt. I machine quilted it.
I began my second quilt while doing an internship in Arizona. This one was better. I decided to hand quilt this one. I couldn't get even stitches by using the rocking method so I resorted to stitching like I was cross stitching.
I spent my last 2 years of college in Rhode Island. (brrr!) There I joined a quilt circle at Wesley United Methodist Church. They really taught me the art of quilting. I learned to hand quilt without a hoop and make small even stitched.
I graduated and moved back home to Dallas, Texas. I have yet to find a circle quite so special as my Rhode Island friends.
